Topeka Therapy Center
Topeka Therapy Center reflects Thrive Therapy of Kansas’ commitment to meeting the needs of our growing community. In addition to offering therapy in patient homes and nearby areas, The Topeka location is one of several settings a participant may utilize to work on their therapy goals on a one-on-one basis. Designed to support individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities, it combines advanced equipment and interdisciplinary therapies to help patients build functional skills. The environment encourages both personal growth and a sense of community, helping each patient move forward with greater confidence.
A Typical Day at the Center
Patients will have therapy sessions determined by their individual needs, choices and personal treatment plan. Upon arrival, they will have a locker to store personal items. Throughout their time in the center, patients will be involved in individual therapies. While lunch is provided each day the center is open, patients are free to bring food from home or leave for lunch. Our center patients will have access to a licensed agency nurse available for emergencies and to help coordinate referrals for outside resource providers.

Game Rooms
Providing access to games and accessories, patients improve hand-eye coordination while challenging their cognitive abilities through various engaging games. These fun, stimulating activities support skill-building in a interactive environment that promotes focus, memory, & reaction time development.

Learning Library
With computers, printers, books, and very good and engaging resources for all abilities, patients can dive into puzzles, audio books, or reading time. This cozy setting encourages relaxation, exploration, and learning, making it the ideal space to nurture imagination and mental stimulation.

Classrooms
Dedicated classroom spaces support cognitive growth through structured weekly classes taught by professional therapists. Lessons cover finances, parenting, coping strategies, and more—providing one-on-one opportunities for patients to gain valuable life skills in a focused, supportive environment.

Arts and Crafts
Our vibrant arts and crafts rooms offer access to diverse mediums that help patients develop fine motor skills and emotional expression. These creative outlets enhance therapeutic growth, reduce stress and anxiety, and promote cognitive, physical, and behavioral rehabilitation.

Gym
Fully equipped and accessible, our fitness centers support physical and occupational rehabilitation. Featuring treadmills, bikes, hand weights, and adaptive tools, patients can build strength and endurance under the guidance of licensed Physical and Occupational Therapists in a supportive setting.

Sensory Rooms
Designed for comfort and regulation, our sensory rooms offer calming music, soft lighting, and tactile input tools. These spaces support self-awareness, focus, and emotional control—helping patients manage stress and build the skills needed for successful social interaction and learning.

Teaching Kitchen
Our adaptive kitchens offer patients hands-on opportunities to learn meal planning, prep, and safety. With accessible equipment and guided instruction, patients practice multi-tasking, organization, and endurance—key life skills that enhance independence as part of a tailored therapy plan.

Laundry Facilities
The patients gain practical life experience using our accessible laundry equipment. This free resource not only provides a helpful service but also teaches skills in sequencing, equipment safety, and task completion—helping build independence in daily routines during their rehabilitation journey.

Providing access to computers and printers and a full library of books and resources to appeal to all interests and ability levels, our Learning Libraries are just the place to settle down and get cozy with a book, puzzle, or audio book.

Classrooms
Our classrooms provides the space necessary for learning new skills and developing cognitive functioning. We feature weekly classes taught by professional therapists for finances, parenting, coping skills, and many more, where our patients can get 1 on 1 learning opportunities on their level.

Arts and Crafts
One of our center’s highlights, we offer arts and crafts rooms that have access to different mediums to encourage our patients therapy skills of improved physical functioning through the development of fine motor skills, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and decompression. Through art and individual expression, our patients can aid in their physical rehabilitation and form new outlets of expression. Proven to reduce levels of stress and anxiety and increase self-esteem, our arts and crafts program is a large part of a patient’s cognitive and behavioral rehabilitation.

Gym
Our accessible fitness centers features state of the art equipment for physical and occupational rehab. From a treadmill and recumbent bike to hand weights and adaptive equipment, we enable Brain Injury patients to achieve their fitness and training goals. Staffed with licensed Physical and Occupational therapists, there is something for everyone.

Sensory Rooms
These specialized rooms offer a safe space where our patients can self-regulate and decompress. Focused on providing the best sensory input for each patient’s specific needs, patients can learn how to self-regulate and ultimately improve their focus. Featuring soothing music, fiber-optic lighting, deep pressure input, or weighted products, these calming rooms help the muscles to send calming signals to the brain, so that patients can recognize their thoughts and improve their focus, helping them learn the skills they need to be better prepared for learning and interacting with others.

Accessible Bathrooms
At our centers, we proudly offer two accessible bathrooms that that can accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices.

Teaching Kitchen
Our facility kitchens features accessible countertop space and equipment for teaching our patients how to work safely in a kitchen. Our patients will have the opportunity to plan, shop and prepare a meal and snacks. This space focuses on skills such as planning, organizing, multi-tasking, following directions, endurance and safety awareness and can be a part of their individualized treatment plan.

Laundry Facilities
A bonus space, our therapy centers features access to laundry equipment for our patients to not only take advantage of this free resource and complete their laundry, but also to develop the skill of using laundry equipment safely.

Patients have the ability to choose which therapies they want to receive at the center, in their home, or in the community. All therapies provided by Thrive are patient directed.
What to Expect

Our patients are able to take a break for lunch, provided by the center during the noon hour, or they can bring food from home or leave for outside food. Our center patients will have access to a licensed agency nurse available for emergencies and to help coordinate referrals for outside resource providers.


Bonus Programs
Our centers also features special bonus programs, including guest teachers and artists to work with patients for specialized therapies.
Tracking Patient Progress
Each week, our treatment team of therapists and specialists will meet to discuss patient progress, treatment plans and goals. Patient Care Plans are updated every 6 weeks and the primary therapist will communicate with both the patient and family about progress and the continued treatment plan.
